Coffeeshop Rusland opened on the 30th of April 1975 and was one of the very first coffeeshops in the city. These guys are the oldest operating coffeeshop in Amsterdam with almost 40 years of service. The Bulldog is probably the oldest but they didn’t officially become a coffeeshop until December 1975.
Coffeeshop Rusland was also the first coffeeshop to be given a licence when the rules changed and in 1995 they become the first legal coffeeshop in Amsterdam. You can read more about this on the history page.
Coffeeshop Rusland is built on 3 levels and the main level when you walk in has a few tables and seats on the right with the counter on the left where you can check out the menu. There are two separate smoking areas here with the upstairs having seats are lined all around with the walls with tables and comfortable leather stools filling the spaces. Three TVs are also provided on the walls which regularly shows live sports when available.
No tobacco smoking is allowed here, if you wish to use tobacco in your joints you must go downstairs into the closed smoking room. This area is similar to upstairs just slightly smaller. Comfortable seating lines the walls and TVs are also provided here.
The menu usually stocks around a dozen strains with a very nice choice available. Some of old school strains on the menu but many of the newer most popular strains are regularly updated to the menu. The hash selection is slightly smaller but very nice quality and these guys usually have some beautiful blonde hash.
